Starting to get the interior organized.
The seats have been sand blasted, primed with 2K and finished in gloss black.
I kept all the webbing clips and it is just as well I did!
They will need a cleanup and re-plating but they are in good order.
I had to bend up a few from some wire since there were some missing.
Image

Here is the drivers side [RHS] door trim stripped off the door card.
It was only stapled and was easy enough to remove. This is the better of the two cards.
It will be used as a template to mark out a new pair from a sheet of 3.2mm Masonite.
I intend to make new cards for all the panels that use them so that the Trimmer can just concentrate on the re-trimming.

Back from holidays and back to the Fairlady :)
All body shell repairs are done and the body is now back at the paint shop, Warehouse 27.
Travis is coaching me to get the job done.
Today I cleaned the under side with prepsol and sanded the primer in preparation for coating with coloured body schutz.
Image
Later in the day I started applying seam sealer to the underside.
There's a days work, filling in all the holes and seams that the Minus Paint process has exposed
I'd rather be doing that than paying someone else to do it!
Depending on my input we should be shooting some colour on the underside maybe next week :D

Only 2 days at the shop and today I shot the first colour, tinted body shutz on the floor pan and rear 1/4s inside the boot.

Next is prepping and painting the interior of the boot, cabin and engine bay!
It is all HAPPENING!

Spent another 2 hours in the booth today and coated the cabin and boot interior with a fine schutz tinted with the topcoat colour.

This type of finish will be hard wearing and provide great protection for the surfaces.
Tomorrow I hope to sand, seam seal and coat the engine bay with a Primer Surfacer :)

More progress.
Image
The engine bay has been sprayed with 3 coats of Primer/Surfacer.

Image
The inner wheel arches have been coated with tinted fine textured Body Shutz.

Monday should see the engine bay fine sanded and the first coat of pure Cherry Red go on!
A milestone, to be sure to be sure :D :D
The body and chassis should come together for the first time in over 10 years, probably next Wednesday 8) 8)
Man 'o man, my aching back is protesting about all this activity

Spray the aft side of the front apron/valance. Access is extremely limited once mated to the chassis.
Very nice work, Looks fantastic!!!

Yes, that area will be done when I do the engine bay proper.
All my own work....under the expert and friendly supervision of Travis at Warehouse 27.

He said by the time I finish the Fairlady, I will have completed my apprenticeship as an automotive re-finisher :) :)

More booth time, this time I have sprayed the engine bay with a straight coat of Cherry Red.
All went well, no runs or bare spots :)
Image
Travis has had a good look at the job and it's all AOK :D
Image
The body comes off the rotisserie tomorrow ready to be mounted to the chassis.
I'm loving the progress, it has been a long haul thus far
