new wheels

Post by SLOroadster »

I was playing around with a set of wheels that I think were 8s and it looked like they might clear a 195/60/14 with about the same amount of space that I currently have. It will be close. I'd like to keep the side wall as close to square as possible for the best sidewall stiffness. If I find a 14X6 with a -13mm offset, I ll go for those. If I go that route I might try a 205/60 and see what happens.

Tires and rims

Post by SLOroadster »

I did some measuring and with a 7 or 8 inch rim, a falken azenis will have vertical sidewalls. I measured a set of 195s and they looked to have an 8 inch width so I think they will be the way to go. I am still doing research on different combinations. A 205/60/14 will work on a set of Libras, that is what Mike Young runs on his 67.5 1600 stroker. They clear just fine. I have been told that a 225/40/16 will clear on a car with stock springs in the back, it just needs wheels that are -13mm offset. I figure if that will fit, a 205/14 will fit as well.

Hey Guys,

I have a perfect situation or example of both of these tire sizes On my 66 racer I have two sets of the original dealer option 240z slots(14 x 7) one has a set of 195/60/14 Falken Azenzis that I use for my rain tires they will fit without radiusing the rear wheel well, now for the not so good news my other set have Hoosier Street TD's mounted on them 205/60/14's the only way they would fit was with a little plasma cutter and baseball bat therapy. I would say that for average driving the Falken tires are the cats meow they are unbeatable for racing in the rain!

ps. the price is right also 56 bucks a tire mounted and balanced!

Tires

I was planning on running the Falkens myself. You can't beat the price. I have been exploring other options but they still seem to be the winner.

I've been doing some looking around for wheels and came across Konig Rewinds, seem to look just like Panasports at almost 1/2 the Price. Anyone try them out?

I saw those. However konig makes a set that are 10.8lbs each in a 15. They are $150 each, if the offset is correct I think I might go with those.

Are most people running 195/50/15 or 205/50/15 when running 15 in Panasports.

Hey Will, which Konigs come in the 15"?? Also what would the correct offset be? Are they 15x7? Maybe I will just call Konig, but doubt they are too familar with Roadsters!!!

So what would 14x7 Panasports with zero offset look like on a Roadster? I found a set used, but wanted to be sure A. They fit and B. They will look ok. Should I really be looking for something with 12-15mm of offset?

Konigs

Post by SLOroadster »

I just saw a set of the Konigs on ebay with a buy it now of $300. I was dumb and didn't buy them now. The guy was claiming that they were a -9mm offset which should work. They arn't a -13mm but -9 should clear a 195\60. They are 7 inch as well.
