East Bay Area New Owner of 69 2000

Post by 311Fixer »

Hi Forum,

After scouring the internet for useful links, restorations, and rebuilds, I have decided to register for the Forum!
I purchased my Roadster from another member or 311.org in December in San Mateo, and have had it as a project since.

After some transmission mount work (went with a non-stock option) and custom cut it into place... (removal of the old mount was so frustrating!)
I was able to get it running for the first time about one month ago, however it had a problem with one of the carbs (SU), and would idle at 3000 rpm
After removing, and doing some minor adjustments, and learning about all the set screws, etc on the SU, I was able to get it idiling smooth, around 700rpm.
And then I drove it around the block! It was awesome. The first drive in my car.

Future Plans include a frame up restoration... but for now, Just getting everything working well so I can drive it!

Wondering if there are any members out this way in the Danville/925 area!
Look forward to meeting you

-Jay

Hi Jay,

Welcome. There are a few owners out your way.

Can you make it to the event in San Leandro later this month?

Or better yet, make the trip to Solvang.

Is this a thread on your car?

Nice, he was putting all the goodies in there. Get to Solvang, it's fun.

As I recall some of those goodies were sold off and did not make it in the car.

Glad to hear the car is running well. Sounds like you are enjoying the adventure of ownership.

Oh black hood scoop, I thought your profile pic you were driving without a hood.
Welcome and keep on driving.

It is currently hoodless... Easier to work on, safe enough for around the block.

Also, Solvang - I am thinking I can make it! However, my 2000 would not be ready to drive all the way down there, but I could trailer it pretty easily.
Would it be crazy to trailer in, and drive it a short distance? And should I make a plan on coming Friday or Saturday?
Should I register and have the car in the show? (it is in rough shape, but still cool!) or just park my 2000 somewhere, and walk over?

Thanks Guys!

No Roadster, no matter its current condition, is "parked" and the owner just "walks over"! Unless the spirit has changed, which I doubt, ALL Roadsters are welcome at ANY show in ANY condition! I remember cars showing up at Shasta held together with bailing wire. Then again, we all used to camp and have breakfast over the fire, hippie style... Good times...

Yes, bring the car and enter it in the show. The more Roadsters, the better.

If you trailer it, I'm sure you can find a spot to stash the trailer. If you prefer to camping to a hotel, a few folks are staying at Flying Flags. You can leave the trailer there while you zip around in the Roadster locally.

Hi Jay and welcome! I'm in the east bay also on the other side of Crow Canyon from you. Hope to run into you soon. I visit family in Alamo quite a bit so keep an eye out for a white 69 2000 with sticky carbs! Would love to check out your new rig and it's progress if you have time.

Bring the car, and drive it in, or be pushed in if it is not running.
