Throttle cable

Post by Conner »

I'm having trouble removing the throttle cable from where it attaches to the throttle-arm assembly right after it comes through the firewall. I've tried everything I can think of but can't get that barrel-shaped end off the vertical rod it is fed through.

Here are a couple of pictures for reference (sorry they are blurry):

If anyone can reveal the trick for getting this piece free I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Try sliding the cables up through the slot, out the top of the rod... Bill

Looks like the rod has been squeezed shut. Get a dull pocket knife and gently pry it open a little, then you can get them out.

It was squeezed at the top, but I got it apart.

Thanks for the help both!

Andy, there should be a couple spring steel clips that hold the cable ends on the rod assembly. If you got any boxes of parts with your car look in the bottom they might be laying there. I have not yet found an aftermarket clip for these but I'm sure they are out there, not sure if they are available thru vendors or not. Bill
