I agree with dbrick. I do not consider my car 'show quality' by any stretch of the imagination. Like I only half jokingly said to Alvin in another thread, it would probably get 17 points in a judged concourse (joking because I doubt it would score that high)

But it is nice enough that the valets at the mall park it with the Lambos and Ferraris, and I am MORE than happy to bring it to shows..

My guess is this mall is trying to upscale themselves, and they see car shows where high end stuff is shown as a way to make people think that if people are willing to bring nice cars like that to the mall, it must be nice.. I get their thinking.. I also understand the idea of bringing whatever you can to the show..

I would hope the show takes off, and makes it easier to bring what you have in the future.

I know that was the trajectory of the "cars and coffee" that's currently in Irvine... When it was in Newport, they would not have wanted to see projects, as they did not have room, and the people there were not real interested.. And my guess is the Ford bosses would not have been as excited to open their parking lot in the beginning if they thought they were going to get a bunch of projects every Saturday.. Now the crowd is more diverse, as are the cars.. Evolution..

Will Jerry Brown be there? If so, I am in. I have a couple of things I would like to talk to him about (30 minutes tops, if he remains silent).

Hope my post wasn't disrespectful...especially to Alvin!!! Sorry if I came across that way. I sure didn't mean to. Situations like that car show's request remind me of the body shop guy who told me my Roadster was not high end enough for him to do any work for me.

Again, sorry if I was disrespectful. Any effort to put together any show for Datsuns (period) is a great thing!

I don't have to leave. I have a Droid and a car charger! No gov't checks either. Hmmmm tent. I gotta work on that one.

Wait!

I can sleep in the car, and a roadster trunk can hold a LOT of bottled water and beef jerky! I'm set.....good to go for at least a month!!

Ah yes, just think of it. The long haired hippie eating beef jerky, drinking bottled water (wink, wink) and bathing - wait - no bathroom, no shower. How warm is Sacramento this time of year? (Just funnin ya Roman! Bring the ax and belt out some tunes!)

I belong to a Sac Datsun group and can put this question to our group head. We have between 5-12 Roadsters but I am not sure we can meet all the requirements. Would that be of help?

All said and done, I hope ANY Roadster show happens, and I'm glad Alvin posted it.

(and it's been an uber entertaining thread too...)

I figured out the hygiene thing too, Sid.
Flush all the antifreeze out of the system and used an organic biodegradable detergent and water in its place. Run some plumbing from the heater core and presto! Hot water for bathing!! Just have to remember to refill the radiator.

On a serious note, despite my initial misgivings, thanks to Alvin for posting this. More roadster shows are always cool.

^ You could put in a filtration system and recycle the water back into the radiator. The ultimate camping Roadster.
