Motive power bleeder cap
I have the motive power bleeder but have the European cap that I use for the 2002.
There site doesn't list Datsuns as an application.
Does anyone have a power bleeder and can they lmk what lid I need for a roadster?
Thanks a ton

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
I used the flat one with the chain and wingnuts originally, kind of hard to get sealed

but I saw this too

Here is another, more sturdy and easilly made, http://www.motiveproducts.com/catalog/m ... leeder.htm
I was going to get a big lab stopper and a clamp. having something in the reservoir taking up space lets you remove the cap and not have an overfull cylinder. Might use the metal plate style now that I saw the photo

You can also go with a factory master cylinder cap, drill for the fitting and use a clamp to secure it, Securing it is the key for no leaks.

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
I use the universal cap. It's not perfect but it works. It's not flat - it has a giant "washer" that helps it seal on top of the reservoir.

A rep from the Motive was going to come by to look at my car last month to fit an adapter. His commute is past my neighborhood. They are based in Gilroy. We couldn't set a time, but I'll reach out to him again and let you know what he recommends.

It fit without a problem?
I only ask because my roadster won't be here until Friday.
Thanks

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
After a several attempts to meet up with the Motive guy I decided on a DIY solution for ~$10bikermike wrote:A rep from the Motive was going to come by to look at my car last month to fit an adapter. 1 x flared steel tubing - 1/4" OD (cut a $4 piece of brake line in half)
3 x zip ties - to clamp to master cylinder
1 ft x 1/4" clear tubing ($0.39)
1 x 1/4" NPT to 1/4" hose barb fitting ($3) to connect to Power Bleeder fitting
2 x old hose clamps (free) If anyone local is working on brakes and would like to borrow the bleeder, send me a PM.

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
That is way better than the universal cap that Motive sells (it's too bug and hits the firewall).
Good stuff!

That's what I was thinking..Now I can make one. I bought another Motiv on Ebay without an adapter.jamesw wrote:That is way better than the universal cap that Motive sells (it's too bug and hits the firewall).

Nice feature is the plug takes up space, so when you remove it the reservoir isn't overfilled.
Not too bug though

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
bikermike used his Motive bleeder today with his ingenious reservoir solution. I've bleed hydraulics before but not as mess-free and simple as this...thanks for sharing Mike!

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
I have used it a bunch of times in the last year and it still works well. What is not shown in the photo is that I usually lay down towels on the fender, cowl and around the reservoirs as a measure of protection in the event of a leak when in use or a drip when removing. I also use safety glasses.

Re: Motive power bleeder cap
Vacuum bleeders are nice but the roadster bleeder nipples leak air around the threads, reducing the effectiveness of the vacuum system.
