We have tickets to the duels, truck race, and the big race Sunday. Dave, does the new exhaust fill the bill for Linda? Louder? 74 degrees today, not used to tee shirt in Feb.
Nicely louder but not obnoxious, still not as good a sound as the V8. Damn, 74 degrees???? Oh, DUH, you're in Florida We barely broke 35.

I am VERY happy, with the reproduction VIN and Alternator plates I picked up today.
Whilst I couldn't possibly afford to get a job lot done, the plates are excellent in quality and could easily be used as master for printing an adhesive vinyl sticker: -

I also picked up all the gauge faces which have been totally re-done: -

Now if I could only get some progress on the body and chrome work

I borrowed one from my son and was able to inspect the majority of the tank insides on a little LCD screen.
Saw no rust or residue, just faded metal baffles and such.
So if "varnish" is the only issue, you may be able to clean the tank yourself and not require the POR treatment
I will check it out. I ended up being so busy I never got around to searching for a boil place anyway.

The weather looks good this weekend so maybe I can make some progress.

Today after weeks of striping, blasting ,grinding, cleaning and painting every nut, bolt, washer, bracket, brake and fuel line, and suspension component I now have a shiny black rolling chassis. I think the ratio of cleaning to assembly must be 2 or 3 hours to 1! I have wore out 2 wire wheels on my grinder (a couple of knuckles and finger tips as well). Now it's back to the body work I started 30 years ago. It is encouraging to finally see the project going in a positive direction. Mike.

Oh yea, I pulled some parts off a motor today to sell for more stroker money.

Replaced the driver's side window handle, replaced a tonneau stud, and washed and waxed.

Then took it for a nice ride.

Seems to run just a little smoother after a bath.

got engine back in (after replacing front/rear tranny seals) with assist from Linda - hooked up all the bits - electric/grounds and various extra stuff - added all the fluids - car fired up right away - off I went for a short drive to warm engine up so I could recheck the valve clearance and - ouch - copious amounts of engine oil present on floor - hopefully it only a pan gasket - but a bit discouraging all the same - really don't want to have to demonstrate my engine r&r talents again so soon.
