Hello
Hey gang, just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Dave , I live in Phoenix Arizona. I retired this year after 26 years at UPS and finally have the opportunity to persue my hobby. I have worked on cars for 30 years or so, mostly paint and body work on hot rods and muscle cars. I was looking for a 69 camaro when I stumbled on a 69 Roadster and just had to have it. After checking a few postings on the Interweb I discovered this little car has a devoted group (cult) of followers. Any how 5 days into it and the car is completely apart and the body is on a rotisserie. I have read about engine swaps using a later model fuel injected motor with a 6 speed. If any one can give me some advice on drive train options I would appreciate it.

Hi Dave....
We;cp,e tp tje Datsun Roadster Addicts website...
This is a great bunch of people, you'll find most anything related to roadsters here.
If you poke around, you'll find some swap info in the Wiki but I think you're talking about Spriso.
If you search for Michael's posts you'll find lots of interesting reading.
Addict meetings are held here pretty much constantly so be sure to check back and keep us posted on your progress.

Re: Hello
welcome. SR20 is the most common swap into these cars. Looking forward to pics of your project.
Kevin Desirello and Spriso are the two guys on here most familiar with the swaps I mention above.

Re: Hello
Well hi to you sir, and welcome.
Like Greydog stated you can go to the PMwiki and go into the engine swap section. There you can find all the different engines that can be swapped into the datsun. The easiest one would be the sr20de engine, the sr20det takes more custom work due to the steering. But then again with some custom work you could even fit an LS1 engine! But if you're on the low budget side you can could use a ka24 engine. Rhänne a member here is using a rotary 13b engine with a TURBO! There's endless possibilities it's just that they all require custom fabrication.
Have fun with your project.

Re: Hello
Welcome, post pics of your ride. even disassembled It's fun watching progress happen.
Sr20 is buttery smooth, I think most people prefer the 5-speed with it. requires some cutting but there are jigs to get it perfect and every question can be answered. And has stock turbo available.
Ka24de requires no cutting and is a good torque engine, cheaper too because a lot of people take them out for an sr20.

Re: Hello
Welcome to 311s.org!
There are no end of possible engine swaps, we just happen to be partial to the SR20 series engines.
We have lots of well documented builds here on this site, or you can check out a few projects and products we build at http://www.spriso.com
The engine swap section of this site has lots of good reading...
Please don't hesitate to ask questions, we are a helpful bunch here!

Re: Hello
Thanks for the feedback, based on what I have researched the last few days it looks like I need to talk to Mike at Spriso. Some very informative info on his site and PMWIKI Tech. I tried to post some pics but everything I have is Hi pixel digital. I will try to adjust my camera settings and take some of the floor boards I just fabricated and welded in yesterday. Again thanks to all.

Welcome to the group. I'm fairly new here too, and there is a LOT of help in this group!
I just wanted to mention, your welcome to join our local Datsun club too. There are several of us with roadsters in the PHX area.
