I believe vehicle emission regulations were first introduced in Canada in 1970 and automobile life has not been the same since.
Ross, I think SRLs were sold locally till mid 1970 as I recall a buddy getting one as a high school graduation gift. Also, I was given a package of roadster "artifacts" from a former owner whose car was destroyed in a house fire in the early 90s. Included were his car's owners manual and the service manual c/w plastic warranty registration card. It recorded SRL 11823 - U2012392 as sold by Harry Forester Ltd. Calgary AB June 14 1970. Also included were several issues of the Datsun Roadster Review circa 1987 published by a young Ross Mullen!
Garth:
1970 model 2000 start at SRL 311 13000, so that car was a 69 sitting on the show room floor for a long time before it sold in June of 1970. I have never parted out a 70 1600 or 2000 that was a Canadian imported car. Many 67 2000 are registered as 68 because that is the year they were sold.
In the late eighties , a new 64 1500 was still sitting a in a show room in Saskatchewan, according to old Datsun lore. We tried tracking it down but never did find it. We wondered if the car would come with a warranty seeing as it was still considered "new".

It was available as an over the counter piece though. No real records exist that I am aware of, but speculation is that only 2-300 or so of the 67s came with solex from new. Most have had them added.
So there is no real idea of how many factory solex cars produced?
But If I got it correctly they only made them for 67-68 years.
What is some of the parts "factory installed" for these cars / difference ie: carbs, cam... speedo?
SRL-01749
My other car is an unfinished project. (as well)
