First I installed switchback bulbs in front lamps, worked great, slight flicker when brakes applied.
second I installed cree 1157 LEDs to brake light/tail lights, worked great, still slight flicker.
Third I installed cree 1156 LEDs to rear turn signals, would not work with stock flasher. Installed new electronic flasher (moss motors) less than 10 dollars, everything works great, flicker gone too. I love these lights. Thanks Mike for all your imput into this setup. Anyone can do this in just a few minutes.Well worth it

Would you have the part # for the electronic flasher or is this a common part. This is on my To Do list.
Thanks

Today I noticed one of my 1156 red CREE bulbs was burned out after 10 months of light usage....not encouraging.

My cheapo 1157's are still OK, but I still have to track down a gremlin in the trailer wiring converter or get a better one. The front switchbacks are actually too bright and unfocused at night, blind oncoming drivers. I'll try a small chrome snap cover on or inside the lens in the center, see if that helps. Have to wait for the weather. Phil saw his shadow, so early spring!

Decided to order up some LED replacements for tail/parking/turn bulbs and boy am I confused! Prices and configurations are all over the map, as is brightness (reviews for some saying dimmer than incandescent) and no doubt quality. What brands/vendors are others using and would you recommend? RCMike, I know first-hand how nice and bright your LEDs are, which ones do you have? Thanks!

Adam,
Don't buy amber LEDs for the dash. I made that mistake and they are way too dim. Sorry, can't find the ebay link right now.
I almost wonder if it wouldn't be easier to make a voltage increaser gizmo. Just bump up the voltage a half a volt to make up for the poor voltage getting to the bulbs from the old wiring. I think I will pump a fresh 12v straight to the source and see how it looks.

Adam, my 1157 LEDs were cheapos, hard to tell the difference between tail and turn, but no complaints from people I know who have followed me. Everyone says to get red LEDS, so I did. No idea if whites would work better in the rear.

LED Manufacturers recommend to get the color that matches the lens.
I have the white/amber switchbacks in the front, and though pricey at the time they are AWESOMELY bright and well worth the money in my opinion.

Resurrection of an old thread. Get the defibrillator out. :D

A few people were asking me about my bulbs, but the sources I used are gone. Projector style 1157 switchbacks white/amber in front and rear were 1157 with all the LED's facing the lens, not the corncob style. Any help for current sources?

Found these on Amazon. Good reviews. There was no luman rating on them, but didn't see any complaints on brightness level.

They are a little long at 50+mm though

Search eBay with "Cree projector red 1157" and "Cree switchback 1157" and you should see some options that would work. I haven't ordered any since my posts a few years ago.
