I actually got my car from a guy in San Antonio. He said he got the car from a pick-n-pull junkyard. Maggie's car is red i think. Cause there's only 2 more here, and both are red. Only thing is that one has tons of rust, and the other one i think over heated, and blew the head gasket. I think it was the head gasket or transmission I don't remember it's been some time since i asked.

I'm glad the inside of the Dellortos look good, cause the outside is... ahhhhh! I love my Dells (45s, I assume yours are 40s?). Not a lot of info out there on them, a couple good books and a few websites. Matt at Eurocarb has all the parts and is excellent to deal with, but you're paying at the exchange rate which is pretty favorable to the British right now. The Italian guy on Ebay is good too and has a lot of info on his site about different carbs, set up, etc. There is a stateside VW supplier that has some parts, but their jets are aftermarket and I had some concerns that my machinist addressed. Get a Cannon or Pierce manifold and they should work great, especially if you do a mild step up on the cam. Look inside and down the front throat of the carb to see what size inner venturis (also known as chokes) you have... probably 28-32 (number will be stamped on the lip edge), all of which should work well (better top end with larger, more torque with smaller). You may also want to get a wideband O2 set up for setting up the jetting on the carbs. You may be able to borrow one but you will need some way of installing an O2 sensor, usually just past the header in the collector. I think it was Maggie's car that blew the tranny. She let her son change the oil on it and he drained the oil but refilled the ENGINE oil instead of the tranny... She now has one she got from me. Small world!

I have an Innovate LM2 O2 logger and I like it.

Yeah hahah small world. I was actually up in Houston this past week, and remembered someone was needing a transmission in Brownsville. But the last time i saw the car that needed it was located close to a pawn shop. But it's been since long gone from there so i couldn't risk it. I think i remember the guy selling it wanted 250-350 for the transmission (4spd).

So today my new fender mirrors arrived at my grandmas house. But i will have to upload does pictures till sunday or monday. They look like the mirrors from option (D).

Regarding the wideband O2, I went with one from Glowshift, about $185 on their site, choose your gauge style. I'm hearing that Lm2 and others are going for similar prices... they used to be a lot more. Money well spent, believe me!

Well the Lm2 goes for $349 plus shipping and i just don't see my self paying that much for a wideband with data logging. Plus i wouldn't be able of using all its features. Do you think just a wideband gauge would work without the data logging.

Yes, the glowshift has that option. I don't recall if it comes with or you have to add it. I've been very happy with mine, and it has met all my needs. If you are serious about getting the best out of the dellortos and/or any other mods you do, it is money well spent. I needed it for my high compression motor to make sure I didn't blow it up, and believe me it has saved my ass, and others will atest to how helpful they are in carb set up. However, you can get pretty close doing the old test and see method, but you may spend more time and money on jets, which can add up. I can probably help guide you some there, and you are welcome to borrow some jets if they are in the ball park. Data-logging is not required. You will have to add in some money in having a bung welded into the collector, and it has to be done correctly so it is at an angle and not pointing downward.

Great then, maybe ill end up buying a Glowshift gauge or a innovate gauge. But for the looks if it ill buy the Glowshift gauge cause of the price. O and i found a cannon manifold that fits webers, and im not sure if it fits dellortos. How much does a manifold with links and gaskets usually run for? Also does anyone know what alternator would be needed to fit the following electronics. Stereo, 600watt amp,hid lights, and o2 gauge. Plus the rest of the stock electronics, and lights.

The manifold will fit the dells just fine. You may have to get creative with the linkage, but that would be the same if you ran webers etc. Not sure what a good price is, but be happy that someone makes an aftermarket one; the U20 solex manifold is rare and expensive! Regarding the alt, I run a chrome GM one wire (passenger side) and they bolt right up with the proper supports, but there have since been several much smaller alternatives that have popped up... Someone will chime in.

Well this past month i started to feel frustrated, and annoyed cause of the slow progress. So i started to question my self what could i have done with the money I've spent so far, and i said. "I could of bought a nice black convertible miata with a 5 speed transmission, and had the time of my life drifting it and trashing it". But then out of nowhere I clicked a swap build and at the end of 4 page i found some motivation to rise my spirit. That don't realize what great memories of sadness, joy, anger, and happiness a little tiny car can bring into someones life. But it is for those who don't lack courage nor self determination ,and Pockets .
