ok i have 2 rear ends one has the pumpkin in it an the other doesnt what would be the easiest way to do this .... take out the whole rear end with springs or take out the rear end by itself or take out the pumkin

Well, if the complete diff assembly is not leaking, I would be inclined to swap the entire assembly. Check/change the gear oil while you are in there. Now, regarding the springs, evaluate which "sit" you like better. More than likely, one spring set is more tired than the other...
