someone drove to work in the 40-degree temp range this morning. With the heater core deleted. Builds character.

A college buddy from Maine drove his bike year round. His only other choice was to walk.

woohoo~ the gauges and clock came in the mail yesterday. Will be working on the roadster this sat (hopefully friday too) to get the new(er) gauges in.

It's pretty easy to access, right?

Not completely. Drop the steering column to get the tach out. The clock can be loads of fun...

yeah, it's tedious. Tach has to come out to get the speedo out, at least that's the way I did it.
While you're at it, put some brighter LED's in them.

thanks for the heads up! Does anyone have pictures of doing this?
(i did find Garm's thread on tach removal http://311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f= ... 2&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Garm..that was the plan. The old bulbs are crap...and I think the tach bulbs are out on my current ones, so I'm missing some bulbs anyway. I will be doing LED strips. I've done it in the 510 that I had. I will try my best to document for the roadster.

This is the result on my 510:

white LED

blue LED

there's a remote to change colors of the LED ;)

Well...here's the result!

I only did the speedo and the tach. I didn't bother with the multi gauge (too hard to get to and I'm ok with stock lighting on it)

If you want me to do a writeup, I can! I took some pics along the way :)

Are these stamps anything special? I was just wondering if you could use a set from Harbor Freight?

I see they have 3 sizes, not sure which would be best? They have 1/8, 1/4 & 3/8

1/8 would work fine. Compare the stamps to the shapes of the numbers stamped in your ID tag - there are differences.
