I added another customizing touch to the roadster yesterday. One more deviation from stock. This one, I blame on Andrew Murphy.

It's not that rare. I was shopping for a "Real" Empi GT wheel, but seeing as they are Ebaying for a grand or more, I started to look for alternatives.

This is one of the alternatives. What you are seeing is a "Flat 4" Replica of the Empi wheel. And it is a dead-on replica at that. It's still in production and readily availible.

I bought it from a VW parts house in Carson, VWISPWest http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... ?id=171314

They shipped it with the VW hub, Which did'nt do me much good, but I wanted the horn Bezel. I bought the Grant hub adapter from Summit Racing. I was aprehensive that it would push the wheel out too much. No worries, It is now precisly where the stock wheel was located. I also needed to buy 3, 1/4'', fine pitch, Allen drive bolts to replace the metric ones that came with the VW kit.

That is neat - the Empi is a cool wheel. What is more neat is that the horn button comes in different colors! Sweet!!

I wish you people would stop finding all these kewl items to put on our cars. It's really making it hard to focus on getting it running again.

If you want a 13" wood wheel, Grant makes one.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!
