An alternative wheel?
As much as I would like a set of Panasports, I just can't justify $200 per wheel, plus getting new tires. I found a set of Crager chrome wheels on Summit Racing that are about 1/3 the price. They seem to look pretty nice.

Has anyone used these before? I am open to any thoughts.

Re: An alternative wheel?
what is your budget for wheels+tires combined?
you can find a nice set of used wheels and put brand new tires on them for equivalent or less than you think
imho, there are many wheels I'd choose over that style for the roadster, ie a Libra, mesh, minilite, etc.
have you checked the wheel sticky at the top of this section?

Those wheels will NOT fit a stock rear......
I would look for some used wheels or have your stock wheels refinished..

Re: An alternative wheel?
There is a guy selling new Rota wheels on ebay for around $500 a set. About as close to Panasport looking as you can get. Key; rota wheels datsun roadster.

Re: An alternative wheel?
Thanks, the Rota wheels look nice and I could probably work them into the budget.
Anyone have a preference on tires to fit these 15 x 7 wheels?
Your help and info is appreciated.

You can fit 185/55 R15's inside stock front fenders. Anything fatter and you will need to get your fenders rolled. My experience at least, after getting the Rotas and 195's and ripping my old fender going into a driveway...

Were your Rotas 15x7? And what offset?

CRAP!
But you say the 185/55-15 won't rub, I wonder about 185/60-15?

Re: An alternative wheel?
I forgot to mention that's with "Mike Young" front springs. It may work with stock springs. Sorry!

Re: An alternative wheel?
So, are we saying that a 68 2000 with stock suspension can accomodate 185/55 R15 tires
on 15 x7 w/12 offset? No rolling needed? ( not sure what rolling is or where to get it done, but assume its to enlarge the opening).

Re: An alternative wheel?
online tire calculator says 185 tread width to narrow for 7" wheels, 5 to 6.5" for that width. So 195/??-15, I'm hoping 195/55 or 195/60 will fit.

Re: An alternative wheel?
I've been through this process recently. I have the Rota RBs 15x7 and decided on 195/50/15 tires based on researching this site. The lower profile should allow for clearance. They are mounted on my chassis now, but the body is off so I cant tell if this is a fact.
BTW I am not too far from you, south of Pullman, WA. There are a few roadster guys in this area.

Re: An alternative wheel?
Good to know, do you know Bob, i think thats his name, serious roadster guy from Moscow . He has a summer house just a few doors down from me. He was up for a weekend a little while back, saw my car in the garage and stopped. We had a nice long chat about roadsters. Never see any up here.
It seems no one is too concerned with speedo issues when going to a smaller dia tire.
