At this point in the movie, little Tommy Kirk is faced with the facts that Old Yeller (in this case, a '68 1600) is indeed rabid (really rusty) and needs to be put down (parted out).
OR
Porkins doesn't want to admit that his X-wing (a '68 1600) is about to explode and still thinks he can save her.
OR
Frankenstein thinks he can bring his monster (a '68 1600) to life though it's clearly dead.
OR
Bluto does not want to admit it's over and rants about the time the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour.
My brother (channelling parts of Bluto, Frankenstein and Porkins) thinks that it's a challenge to try and bring her back to llfe and feels it can be done. My brother may be insane. I'm in the "I'll just keep on taking her apart and see" mood. Whatever the outcome I'm just hoping that it doesn't turn into "The Money Pit". Too late.

Oh man, keep writing like that! I dig it!
The total POS I see brought back to life on TV with the right equipment, skill, knowledge and resources is amazing. But make no mistake; this is not a common car where one can order up air ride suspensions off the shelf. Ross and others will be your best friend, but I would heed the sage advice of one (Ross) who knows these cars and consult with him about what reality is. Hats off big time to your team if you can pull it off... Make sure you document it from the get go!

Before you decide to start working on it, check the frame. Having it fold in half would be a bad thing...

Re: New owner in Ontario, Canada
but if she folded in half she would take up less space in the garage.
I'm just taking parts off her and trying to get to the bare frame to see how bad things really are. She was $350 so I don't have too much sunk into her and it is fun taking her apart. My brother is working on a '67 Firebird convertible and a '66 Mustang so it's just me and the 1600 right now. When she's apart I will probably have to concede defeat, but my brother may see it as an incredible challenge. Again, my brother may be insane.
This insanity may be contagious. Years from now my brother and I may be cruising down the road in my little 1600 talking about the amazing job we did in bringing her back to life. OR We will be cruising down the road in my low number '68 (I was born in Oct '67) trying to figure out what the hell we were thinking trying to bring that first '68 back to life.
The man I bought the car from told me that it was his late brother's and that he didn't want to see it just go to scrap. I told him that we would try to save her.
