Red 69

Post by inline4 »

So I have a 69 that was sold in 68. It came with a mikuni manifold and setup, but had a frozen motor so it was taken out in favor of a KA.

Here's what we have so far. Skittles (blue valve cover, orange oil pan, red car) when I took delivery.

I'm using a kit that I bought off of Gerardo about a year ago. I was supposed to notch the x member for the VSS, but I'm trying to avoid doing so.

any questions, comments or concerns?

thanks

The right side mount is going to tear and separate.
The mount wasn't designed to be set on it's side.

We've already noticed that. The engine set rocks back and forth as is. I haven't swapped it out for new isolators yet. I'mtrying to get everything set in place first.

The eng. location looks about spot on. I agree with Kevin, the mount really wasnt designed to be used in that position. Even with a new mount you'll get considerable eng. rock under a lead foot. Great start none the less.

Just an observation, but that right rubber factory mount looks like it could be mounted onto the frame and a simple 90 degree piece added to join it to the bracket on the engine. Are you sure it's installed as designed? As Kevin said, that would last about 3 blocks.

And just a suggestion, tape over the throttle body or put a Pringles can on it to keep stuff out while fabricating.

To my uunderstanding, it is.... I will be reworking things pretty soon. I think I'm going to check that the engine tilt is where I want it and use something like an angle finder to make a new mount outside of the car.

I'm sorting out the rest and might throw a ka in the 70 I have

Im planning on an Sr at some point in time with the 70.

I wanted to keep the cut off wheel to a minimum at this point in time.
