Ratchet straps and 2 people it makes it easier with 2 people to let it down on the straps.
it takes roughly an hour worth of time to get it ready to come off.

Thanks guys! I knew it was Kevin's plan to have it painted and in yesterday, but to see it happen.. Let's just say I got a big smile when the email hit my phone last night..
Glad you like that color choice on the block Alvin. Can't wait to get the valve cover and the intake manifold back from the polisher/powdercoater.

Re: 1968... 1600->SR20
Where did you get the motor please? Did it have to be rebuilt? And does the body always have to come off to do this drivetrain swap or did you decide to do a "body off" so the frame could be cleaned up?
Looks great so far!

Re: 1968... 1600->SR20
Kevin sourced the motor. It did not need a rebuild. It came running.
As far as pulling the body, my understanding is that it is not necessary. However, in my opinion after talking to Kevin, it makes it much easier. Kevin was able to easily flip the frame to weld top and bottom on the frame mods, and then to clean and paint the welds once they were done. Plus, it gave us a chance to find whatever scaling there was and paint the whole thing.. I'm not sure how easy it would be to do a lot of that with the body attached..

Re: 1968... 1600->SR20
I remove the bodies on most all of the sr swaps.
It is much easier to do the modifications for the trans mount.
It is not as difficult as you would think to remove the body.
Much easier than trying to manuver your self and a welder etc. into the trans tunnel.
I have done it in the past.
With the body off it saves time and gives you an overall cleaner job.
I have a local guy that i purchase my engines from.
He has a junkyard in japan.
All of the cars are in running contion and tested before the engines are removed. Most of them are low mile cars due to the emission regulations in Japan.
Ihave only had one bad engine and it was customer abuse.
The DATSUN BLUE is for those purists out there.. LOL...
