THANKS to Bill and Karen Neal for hosting this FINE Roadster gathering!!
The hospitality of the Neal's is wonderful!.
A super turnout of 21 Roadsters with great people, driving and food.
A great variety of well worn to beutifully restored and SR conversion roadsters.
Garth and Kathy, Don & Sandi and Ted arrived Friday afternoon. HOT, around 100!.
I was test driver for Don's recent neighborhood 20 year tarped 67 1600 find for $500!.
The roadster is a nice one and it made the 630 mile RT with no problems. It will be Sandi's roadster.
Garth had 41c (Canadian, you know) on his Rouge display and he confirmed that it was HOT.
We had a fine visit, meal and were up to greet the arriving roadsters on Saturday morning.
One of Bill Cole's prior roadsters got stranded a few miles away and Dave Neal quickly retrieved it.
(Nice to have a meet hosted by Farmers. Need a trailer to get a roadster?. He had it ready!)
Bill Cole made the repair (shift lever linkage) in short order.
Off about 11:30 on a great 80 mile, 2.5 hr drive in the Cascade foothills to the East.
Bill Cole was our Leader and guided us to 2 of the famous Oregon covered bridges.
(The shift linkage problem reoccurred so Bill went home, got more parts, fixed the roadster and
rejoined to continue leading the drive. What a guy!).
The roads were great and Michael "quickened" the pace a few times but no one got lost or left behind.
Jack Scoville (83 years young!) was with us in his new blue 2000 roadster.
He amazed us with stories of his racing feats. His first race was in 1952! 60 years ago!!
A wonderful BBQ was enjoyed by all and we all got this years famous Roadster BBQ caps. Thanks, Bill!
One last casualty wad a cracked fuel line on an SR conversion which had to be humbly towed to the trailer.
The black 2000 arrived late but it had just finished a 2 year restoration 2 days ago.
It is beautiful!. Paddy Hopkirk vintage seats and smooth stainless sills were nice touches.
A few other nice older non roadsters were present (appropriately parked off to the side.)
Bill Neal hosts this show every year on the third Saturday of August.
You are ALL invited. Do NOT miss it in 2013.
