Hayashi wheel restoration

Great work on the wheels! What type of paint are you using? Did you paint or just polish the outer rim? I can't wait to see them on your car!

I've got them all painted, and one of them has 2 coats of clear on. Hopefully I'll be shooting the others today. I don't have tires for them yet, so I can't show them on the car. Hopefully by this weekend however.

I'm using Dupli-Color gold spray paint, and a dupli-color clear wheel paint. The same stuff I used on my brake lines after I cleaned them up. The lips are just polished. I'll need to repolish the lips after I'm done painting everything. I just hope my masking job was good.

Love'em they look great and period correct too. Nice work on the paint too.
My issue is always with center caps - but you probably wouldn't want to run them racing, as you would most likely lose them?

I can't run them racing. Would I like to? Yes, but its a mute point since they have to be removed to race.

That looks fantastic Will. Love the Gold accent on your car - wouldn't have "thunk it" but now that I see the pix it looks awesome.

Wheels look good on the car, gold was a good choice. I really like the rear flaring. looks stock but bigger.

I think you are the only person to notice that. A lot of work went into that. Hopefully scrutineers don't notice it.

Do you drive to the track on those tires? I don't have a trailer and I can't see how I could fit everything I would need into a Roadster.

Nope didn't drive on the race wheels. The passenger seat stays in the car.

Here is how to pack the car, depending on what size tire you run, 2 in the trunk, one on the package shelf behind the seats, and one lashed to the roll bar. You should be able to get the jack in the trunk as well, if not, in the passenger side footwell along with any tools that don't fit in the trunk. The other option is one in the trunk the jack and all tools in the trunk with two wheels lashed to the roll bar behind the drivers seat.

For me, since I can't get a wheel on the package shelf anymore because of the roll bar harness bar and cross brace, 3 wheels on the roll bar (yes it causes rear visibility issues, but they can be managed.) one on the drivers side of the trunk, a 5 gal fuel can on the passenger side with the jack wrapped in a towel between the tow. The handle for the jack sits across the top of the mess. On the empty package shelf under the tires goes the tool bag, helmet, torque wrench, and what ever else will fit. Passenger seat gets either a passenger or camera equipment (sometimes, but rarely both.)
