Choke Cable removal

Post by Conner »

I am in the process of removing my radio console. I removed all of the bolts and have the console free. I disconnected all six electrical connections (actually one of them was the antenna) and now all that is left holding it in place is the two cables that go into the choke knob. I removed the choke knob but it isn't clear to me how to get the console free from the choke cable. How the devil does it disconnect?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the aluminum unscrews from the shaft...

Be careful, those units are expensive! TR

If you remove the knob, then there is a retaining nut that you can remove. If it is original to your car, it should be knurled satin silver with two holes in it. They are for a spanner. I use a pair of needle nose pliers if I can't get a spanner to fit it and just unscrew it. Once that is removed, then the cable pushes out the rear.
