Wow, so I got up this morning, called my friend Robb about coming down for Shasta... Next week... And he says "no dude, Shasta is this week..." WHAT,
It's always the second weekend! Didn't even bother looking at the flier. So, needless to say, not only is my car not ready, not only am I 12 hrs away at warp speed, but I have to work tomorrow!
Sorry to those who I had hoped to meet... Maybe next year if this show continues.

Greg, Bummer.
Well they are starting to roll up north. I was having coffee this morning and spotted what appeared to be a silver 67.5 2 liter with libra wheels. Definitely not a local car.

Will trade guitars for roadsters, food, shelter, clothes, etc, etc.

Re: SHASTA Datsun Roadster Meet. NEXT Week!
No offense to the organizers, but I have always taken a high level of organization for granted, and clearly it didn't get well advertized this year. It is my own fault for not checking more closely, but as Ted noted there was almost no talk about the show prior. I remember when we used to get close to 100 cars...

I'm disappointed as well.
This will be my first Shasta, and I fear it will be under represented. Then again I'll show up without a car so I have my share of the blame.
We'll see tomorrow.

Re: SHASTA Datsun Roadster Meet. NEXT Week!
Well, I came , I saw and left. Kind of bummed this being my first Shasta show to see a sparse gathering. Oh well, I am partially responsible seeing how I showed up in a honda.
I saw some bitchin' cars. Just not enough, and it was missing some of the would be expected "usual suspects"
I did get to meet Ted Heaton, Mike young and Kevin Desirello and watched Keith do his SU magic. That was cool.
One really cool thing though, was the amount of un-restored, not pretty, driver cars. That was cool, they were on the road. One had come quite a distance to show up. This was a 66 with a U20. To casually glance at the car it would not appear to be able to make the trip..........but it did.
After all, the best roadster is the one that you hop into and hit the turns while the wind is in your hair.
Can't say I am there yet, so my hat is off to those who are.
Enjoy the ride,
Roman

I got there early today but there were 34 cars that I counted at 12pm. Thats not a bad turn out.

Re: SHASTA Datsun Roadster Meet. NEXT Week!
It may have been a sparse gathering?
But dinner with 30 friends and stories, one full parking lot after dinner with everyone talking to everyone else, another hotel parking lot swapping more stories, poker run, coast game...
This was about more than a car count to me. I had a great time, I'm about one social away from remembering everyones names, and connecting with a new group of people made a couple long days of driving very worth it.. Plus I found a beautiful road on my way home.. And I'm still looking forward to 101 south the rest of the way home from San Jose..
I would definitely do it again..

Re: SHASTA Datsun Roadster Meet. NEXT Week!
A huge thank you to the organizers and everyone who made the Mount Shasta such a wonderful event. I arrived in the afternoon on Saturday, in time for dinner, but I missed the picture, so +1 on the count. I had a great time and plan to make it out again next year. I'm certain someone will post pictures from the show. Here are a few shots I took.

I heard about it not being as as well-attended as previous meets, but that is not a reason to stay home if you can make it. Give the organizers your contact information, and they will get a hold of you about next year's run.
