While I'm waiting to get my fuel tank back, I decided to see what I could do to the fuel lines. I took an old return line and went at it w/ the buffing set after beadblasting the upper portion to get the black paint off. Well I took the "factory" silver off in the process, and the lines look like they are copper
. I was just expecting a metal line, that would get a semi shine on it, nothing this shiny. http://www.311s.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=109 Was there a reason for the silver coating? Can I clearcoat the fuel lines like I did to the aluminum parts to keep them from tarnishing as fast? Are the brake lines, etc going to be the same. It looks pretty good sitting against the black in the engine bay. I must admit that I am addicted to the buffing wheel.

) I suffer from the same problem. I have no idea why the lines were dipped in silver whatever, then painted black. I'd imagine that the brake lines are the same way under the plastic coating. I know they are at least cad plated. It is recomended that the rubber coating be removed from the brake lines (on the calipers) inorder to reduce rusting.
