Re: Garm's 1969 project
Bye bye heater hoses, coolant lines etc. Got the front half (the easy half) done. Plugs are 3/8" BPT from Grainger.

*subscribed* I love the direction you are taking the roadster in! I have considered removing the heater & lines myself. I have caught the "Remove everything you can and clean things up" bug.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
ha, thanks! Heater core and a bunch of switches are next. (Who really needs the S/Brake switch?!)
But.. today I went backwards and added something. What's this new thing on Garm's car?

Why.... it's his new cup holder! (thank you marine/boat accessory vendors)
Yes, the seat still slides just fine (when it's folded up) and yes, it's a little hard to grab the e-brake with a big cup in there.

Man, that cup holder is freakin fantastic! There really are few good places to put a cup holder in a Roadster. While it may not work as well with a passenger installed, that "cup holding" task becomes theirs anyway! Love it, and where can I get one?

Re: Garm's 1969 project
I got in the car with it unfolded, it wasn't bad at all. Try "marine cup holder" on eBay -- I spent an evening searching and found half a dozen variations I could have used.
[edit]: found it, but I don't remember buying from down under... well you get the idea:

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Hate to ask leading questions, but does the heater hose "loop" provide a bypass for coolant when the thermostat is closed? Cup holder is nice and simple. I was half thinking of using a gutted CD/DVD drive from a PC as a power cupholder, mostly for fun. Need to work on something for the 66.

Dave, I don't know how it works.
I know the car ran the same to Solvang, and with the same temps without it -- so far.

^ Alvin, It was all on there at Solvang.
But then, I was parked next to Black Beauty.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Got inspiration from Linda's car today. Added a nice fat ground wire (saw a few of these at Solvang) to the motor.
Then I took one of the two wires removed from there and ran it up to the voltage regulator, like she did on her car.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Swapped for a Mallory coil (51,000v) and Magnecor 8.5mm racing wires.
Huge difference! Starts faster, idles smoother, and pulls harder. Compliments the e-dizzy very well.
