Memories

Post by dld »

I was going through some old photos yesterday and stumbled on to some old SCCA Road Racing Datsun Roadster photos I took in the 70s. I'll try to scan them and post them here soon. I thought maybe some of you would remember the cars and their drivers. Dr Frank Joyce, Dick Ryan and Dan Alston, all drove D Production SRL311s. I was invovled as crew for my friend Doug Hargrove racing a Yenko Stinger (Corvair).
Dr Frank Joyce's car was yellow with orange BRE style stripes, number 40 DP.
Dick Ryan's car was orange with white BRE style stripes, number 31 DP.
Dan Alston's car was gold with red trim above the beltline, number 1 DP.
I also have photos of a couple others that I can't remember the driver's names, a white/blue car, number 44 DP, and a yellow car with black hood, number 8 or 80 DP.
All of these photos were taken around 1975.
As I said before, I'll try to scan and post them soon.

Love to see them. If they are your images and you have the negs, they might be in demand, people love that stuff.

I'm sorry I haven't posted the photos yet. I didn't know how interested anyone would be. I probably have the negatives, but finding them might be difficult. Remember, the photos are almost as old as our Roadsters! I'll try to get the scanning done soon, guys.

The suspense is killin' me. I lovvvvee that stuff. A buddy of mine inherited a photo nut's slide collection. Three good sized boxes of midwest racing in the late 60' early seventies. every once in a while he has a good old-fashioned slide show in his basement. A(nother) real good excuse to hang out with the boys. One time he even brought along a guy that raced Vettes in the era and was in some of the pics. What a night.

Sorry guys, my scanner hasn't been working, and my plan to get to Solvang got interrupted by emergency surgery for my 84 year old father. fortunately he is doing better, going home from the hospital today. Jake, no need to get too excited, the photos I have are not on track, but pit photos.
