Fun Run: SoCal Cycle TT is accepting cars, 5/13-5/14

Post by FergO2k »

My buddy who runs the Car TT in the Fall also does a Cycle TT in the Spring, and is short on entrants so is now accepting pre-75 (approximate) cars.
Yes, this is starting on Mothers Day Sunday, so good luck with that discussion. (I lost)

Glendale to Los Alamos (~30 miles N of Solvang) via some stupendous backroads, a catered dinner at the motel there, back the next day and an "awards" dinner back in Glendale.
~210 miles, leave at 9am and arrive in around 2:30 or 3, a stop for lunch and at least 2 stops for gas. (some of them bikes have real small tanks)

Eclectic bunch of gearheads, I have run with them 4-5 times (many run both events) and it is a blast, and great bench racing talk in the parking lot and most every stop along the way.

I have app forms, PM me if you are interested.

It's a Cycle TT, but accepting cars?
It's Sunday and Monday? All retired people or something? :D
And... what's "TT"?

That should get me caught up nicely. 8)

Cycle TT purely until attendance is not reached, then opened up to cars. I went on it last year in the roadster, it was great.
TT is an old racing term, originally stood for Touring Trophy, as they were traditionally held on public roads that wre closed. Check out the Isle of Man TT, open road racing next to stone walls, now those guys have some big brass ones.
In this case it is just an "in the spirit of" term, as this is a tour, not a competitive event by any means, although if pushed, some have been known to exceed the posted speed limint on some turns....

Backroads drives in SoCal are often times scheduled for Sunday/Monday, or starting on Thursday and winding up prior to weekend traffic. We are leaving on Sunday when everyone is driving home from their weekend, and coming back in Monday late afternoon prior to clogging.
