Re: RX-7 Rear Suspension Project
1 year Update:
3,736 miles since the rear end was put in I took the roadster to Dan at DGRFabrication to check the rear end before our Solvang trip...
diff fluid ok and all links are good
Lowered rear about 0.5" by adjusting the coil-overs!
Still considering a sway bar and/or stiffer springs and maybe a proportioning valve
but no complaints so far!

Car looks great nice and low with the 16" wheels. Can't wait to see it at Solvang.

Re: RX-7 Rear Suspension Project
2+year update:
7,936 miles on rear axle setup
Since all has been going well I am considering removing the axle and getting things powdercoated, cleaning up brakes, etc.
I am also considering a Torsen LSD unit
I really liked the exhaust from the muffler back under the axle so I have been trying to keep it "pretty"
I wipe it down with WD-40 occasionally
Over time it has developed a bronze-ish color:
New:

Before the car goes down I will do a good burnout for you guys

Re: RX-7 Rear Suspension Project
I know I'm really late to this thread, but I took Alvin's advice and started searching for some answers to some questions. About two hours later I came across this thread and I feel like I found heaven.
Alvin, sounds like you like this. I really want to get rid of my leaf springs and go to the coil overs also. Would you recommend this setup that you have? I guess I am asking, is it worth the work and money?

Re: RX-7 Rear Suspension Project
I wouldn't do anything until you have driven a roadster with stock suspension, then comp suspension, for thousands of miles on street, track, freeway, etc.

Re: RX-7 Rear Suspension Project
I appreciate that advice, but I'm trying to do this right from the beginning. I might be buying one more "stock" roadster to drive around and give to my son when he can drive. So I'll use that one to appreciate the difference.Alvin wrote:I wouldn't do anything until you have driven a roadster with stock suspension, then comp suspension, for thousands of miles on street, track, freeway, etc.
I've been looking to do the Spriso solution or a Ford 8", but I love the four-link. You've been holding out on me when I keep asking rearend questions. Lol. You have exactly what I've been looking to do. I should have known.
So help me out, is it worth it? Also, does your ebrake work?

One other thing, you had me at Eibach. I love them and have them on all my cars.

You can use whatever springs you desire. The front NISMO coil springs were made by Eibach at one pointscogre wrote:One other thing, you had me at Eibach. I love them and have them on all my cars.

Re: RX-7 Rear Suspension Project
If you only want to do it once, how about a speedway Mini Stock quick-change rear axle.
