new guy from the Netherlands

Post by peter »

Hallo all,
My name is Pete and I have a '66 1600, my choice was this car for his beautiful dash with the 7 gauges.
Sorry when my English is not so good but its not my native language.
I'm started a month ago with the full Restoration and body off.
Its a Californian car and the outside is good with some miner rust under the fenders.
The chassis is good with one rusty place, under the drivers side, but I already made a new plate.
see picture.Image
And than the inside of the body, whoooo that's bad with large holes, so a friend of my starts to make newer (good) floor boards inside, the right side is already done and in a few weeks I hope tho have the left side done.Image
the chassis will be sandblasted and then with primer and 2K PUR black finish done.
I have a lot of questions but ask them later

Welcome to the group!! Your English is just fine. Too bad about the floors. It is an easy fix if you can weld. Keep posting pictures of your progress.

Thank you both, I purchased the car from Richard Klimmert, also from the Netherlands, some of you will know him, I guess. There is a lot to do, I already ordered 4 new calipers the where rusted, in fact all the hydrolic system parts where rusted, so the will be renewed.

Welcome, as everyone said, your English is fine, most of us just grunt and point. Richard will be a great help, I think in a year or 2 he plans to have ALL the Datsuns.

So, today I did the floorboard, it's ready to weld in now, this looks much better than before.
You can also see that I make some reinforcing in the floorboard, because the old floorboards where tear out.
later on I will bring a Sound Deadening Material on.

Nice work, Those reinforcements under the seat mounting points will be nice to have.

This weekend a friend has welded the other floorboard and I have sealed the boards and protect it with a epoxy primer, he welded the holding frame for the gas-tank as well now I can start with inner paint work.

In the mean time I started with some other stuff, and the heater was all rusty, luckily the heater radiator was working well. The loudspeaker housing was also very rusty and in front of the speaker was some fabric, for that I used a black panty.
I have sand blasted the heater and speaker housing first, and after that I put some primer up and some black finish:wink:
I like also the wrinkle finish but that's hard to find and to use I believe.
