Re: Altima Vented Rotors
I'm collecting bits to do this mod. When The calipers came in the box looked like it was dropped. One of the bleeders was bent and one bolt head was snapped off. This concerned me so I went to my local bolt supplier and replaces the eight bolts in the two calipers with grade eight bolts. Cheap insurance and piece of mind all for five bucks. Just a suggestion!

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
For the time being, I'm out of these kits. I've taken a deposit on the last one. I'm hoping to do another run of 10 kits, but it may only be the basic kit and I'll do the rotors as ordered. I definitely will not buy 10 sets of rotors up front! LOL Anyway......

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
Weather stinks so I performed a fit shakedown.

Was concerned that my rims wouldn't fit but they were fine.

More pictures when I finalize the install.

I had to grind a small amount off of the arm I circled to clear the manifold banjo bolts.

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
I decided to go with Mike's package. For 220.00.....sound's like money well spent on top of a KA 5sp. transplant that it's hard to keep the foot out of. Was wondering, and maybe I missed it; is it recommended to change the master to the 240 SX ?

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
Is it working out for you. I was curious about the front/rear bias. You too Spyder; let me know what is working for you as well. Thanks ...Mike

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
I did not get the "exotic" pads when I purchased the loaded calipers. The fronts seem a bit more grabby if I stand on the brakes to see where things lock up but the biggest improvement is the lack of fade.

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
Front/rear balance seems good. I was able to give the setup a hard workout at an auto-x last month.

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
If you want to use a solid rotor, I would look adapting the rear rotor from a 2005- Minispl310 wrote:I would like to find a disc brake kit to fit under 13" wheels...
Don't know about the bolt circle as my favorite Catalog dropped the bolt circle from the dimensions,
but it look good otherwise.
Part No Ventilation Diameter Height Thick Min Thick Centre Holes

roadster
DBA610.......Solid....284....44.5..10.4...9.4....76....4
You might be able to use a 10.5" rotor, but the 10" will fit. Shorted the bracket 1/2" If the caliper fits and clears the hub and spindle...you are all set. I did a quick measurement on mine and it looks like you could shorten the bracket 3/8" and everything would clear on my vented Girling caliper as far as the spindle and hub. For 1/2 " clearance you would need to grind a small 1/8" notch between the mounting lugs (no problem) and cut the wheel mounting flange of the hub down about 1/8 or a little more.
To mount the rotor you would need to cut the mounting hole to 76 mm and drill the mounting holes.

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
IIRC....the Geo metro had a small vented rotor that looked like it would have potential. We looked at it at one point....same bolt patter I think.....decided there just wouldn't be enough interest in doing a kit to make it worth pursuing.

Re: Altima Vented Rotors
Just fyi.....I ended up needing to make another kit....so I made 2....meaning, I have one kit with rotors for sale. I'm out of town and I can't change my site via the ipad, so just pm me if you want it before I get back(sunday). I hadn't posted about it previously since I was waiting for the hardware orders to show up.
