Re: Package Shelf Strap Restoration
On the orientation question. I'm still playing around to see what works best.
As for crunchiness, the straps were stiff before I sprayed them. Cleaning helped some. Painting them made them no worse. They are a different material than the seat belts.

Re: Package Shelf Strap Restoration
nice work!
i wish my carpet looked that good!
ps i noticed a slight asymmetry in the straps and I wanted to let you know that the Solvang judges will deduct points for such inaccuracies

Re: Package Shelf Strap Restoration
Maybe a box of NOS performance goodies under the straps will sway the judges to overlook the obvious.

Re: Package Shelf Strap Restoration
Mike, can you put a picture here where the straps end in the car, because I only have the straps in the back, so I think I am missing the other straps and there ending location
I have a 67.5 also, and started this week parting out for a new paint job, little restoration and an engine swap.
thanks, erica

Re: Package Shelf Strap Restoration
Each set of straps is a pair. Do you have the mating pieces to the ones you have installed?
Scroll up to my earlier photo. One piece mounts on the rear bulkhead as you have. The other piece mounts to the vertical wall behind the seats.
Here is a pic from another member who was helping me locate the holes behind the seats. I found I needed a sharp thick needle to poke through the carpet to find the holes. Use the same type of screws that are used on the bulkhead.

Thanks,
I don't have the other straps which should be mounted behind the seats. Mmm
