Re: Garm's 1969 project
Have you considered removing the rear trim hoop, stripping it to metal like the roll bar?

Re: Garm's 1969 project
I wondered what that was called. I took it off to get at the twisty/posty things, ooh stripping it is a great idea.
Part of my project is to attend to rusty screws, missing small parts, etc. I want to see how everything goes together (and comes apart). Almost everything I'm doing is reversible if someone ever wanted to return it to stock condition.
And cleaning everything as I go. I found several insects in the headlight housings. I think they might be extinct species.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Picked up the car today. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Nice power gain, very smooth, and a warm throaty tone that really growls when you stomp on it. I got pics today, I'll get some video this weekend.
Header install went smoothly.
Josh welded tabs onto the washers to keep the header clean and avoid messing with the coating.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Looks awesome. Does the header fit well? I love power gain from exhaust. Mine was rotten when I got it, then new exhaust and its like a whole new car. (kinda)

^ working on it. Header fit great, missed the starter and everything.
This weekend: Sort out the fuel lines. Maybe more stuff if time allows.

I thought you were booking that for me.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Wow that looks nice Garm. I look forward to seeing it. Looks like the flex tilts up a bit?
Four leaks in the old header? Ouch.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
Two cracks in the header, one open hole in the piping, and a 1/8" gap with no gasket in the header-to-exhaust transition.
No wonder it sounded pretty good.

Re: Garm's 1969 project
You're making some quick progress, and that exhaust tip looks great on there. Is that a number 14 on your door?
