5 speed transmission question

Has anyone installed a later Z 5 speed in a Roadster? Is it even possible to swap the bell housings and make it work?

I have posted this question on Datsuns.com but no one replied. I have heard of people using the U20 5spd in 240zs, so my guess it that a later tranny could be mated to the u20 bell housing.

From what I recall, the design change was in the shifter. It still exited at the same spot, and the transmission is the same length, so the only issue would be the gear ratios if that all holds true. Plus, Z parts are much more plentiful....

I was thinking the same thing. I am currently almost thinking about rebuilding my tranny (2nd gear is becoming tempermental). I'm not thrilled by the cost of rebuilding it either.
