The door handles for an early Z are supposed to fit high windshield roadsters with only "slight" modifications. Given that I am seeing new reproductions going for $30-$45 for a pair, it is sure tempting to try it.
Has anybody done this before and willing to share what are the "slight" modifications?

Anybody tried using early model 240Z door handles?

Looks like the answer is no...
I just bought a pair of repro 240Z handles from a Z part specialist for $40. I will report back on my success or failure.

Re: Anybody tried using early model 240Z door handles?
Well I got a set at $40 for the pair of Early Z Repro handles from a sub of Victoria British (http://www.BlackDragonAuto.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). They weigh 6 oz vs 8oz for the originals (I suspect that the handleis where the weight was saved).
Except for the handle being 1/8" shorter, I really can't see any difference between the original and repro. I will update this thread after the new handles get installed in a couple weeks.

Thanks Mark, if it works out, we can post to the wiki as an alternative.

Apparently they work fine. The driver side handle was already put on when I checked in at the body shop today!
I would suggest that this replacement option is a "go"!

Re: Anybody tried using early model 240Z door handles?
That brings up a question. It has always appeared to me that the first Zs were a redesign of the last Roadsters, from the headlight area in the front to the flat back. Are there many parts that are interchangable?
