Proposed Bay Area Fun Run - Sat., March 31
I wanted to plant a flag in that date (Saturday March 31, 2012) and see who might be interested in an afternoon ride up Mt. Diablo, with a stop at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville (if you have never been there, it is a MUST see). Here's my proposed afternoon:
2:00 pm: Meet at my garage in San Ramon...talk cars, etc.
2:30 pm: leave to go to Blackhawk Museum (short drive)
2:45 pm - 3:45 pm: tour the cool cars at at the Blackhawk Museum
3:45 pm - 4:30 pm: take South Gate Rd up Mt. Diablo via Blackhawk Rd and Mt Diablo Scenic Blvd
4:30 pm: Top of the Mountain, photos, views, etc.
5:00 pm: Head back down the mountain before sunset, which is 5:30 pm
Then head on home... and if anyone wants to stay for an early dinner, we could end up at Pete's Brass Rail and Car Wash in downtown Danville. A horde of roadsters would be a welcome sight there. The alternate route down off the mountain will take you down North Gate Rd into Walnut Creek, if home is that direction.
If you have never been up Mt. Diablo, it's worth the trip. It has amazing views of all Northern California and the road is curvy and mountainous, a good cruiser but not a high speed run. Weather is always a question in late March, so we could keep it open with a "weather permitting" caveat?
Let's see if we can get a little critical mass, all cars welcome...who's in?
Cheers,

Sounds like fun. I'll mark my calendar.
If we adjust the time a bit, we could catch the docent led tour at 2pm.

Public Tours
Docent-led tours of the automobile and changing exhibitions are conducted at 2 PM every weekend. Each tour lasts about an hour and is included FREE with your Museum admission.

OK, starting to get there... Alvin? Others?
@bikermike: all the cars have their history written on placards in front of each car, so you don't get too much more with the docent-led tour. That said, people could opt to go catch the tour and I could meet you all there...however, I am busy until 1:30 pm and wanted to offer up a short "tour" of my garage / small collection, for anyone who wanted to try out one of my Fiskers (the Latigo CS or the Karma, in photo with their Aston Martin "cousin"), etc. So, I can't manage to do that until 2:00 pm, which gets us to the museum around 2:45 pm.

Re: Proposed Bay Area Fun Run - Sat., March 31
What exactly does "try out" mean?
If the weather is very nice I may be able to make the drive. It sounds like fun. I may spend the night in the city tho...It would be a cold ride home.

Dave's garage sounds like more fun than the Blackhawk. No admission, plus you get to "try" the cars-- Sweet!

If the DSU was running, I'd be in. Maybe next year.

Should be able to just make it. Usually get off work at 3 on Saturdays, so should meet you guys at the top right at 430 if Google maps is right.

@jared: try out = take it for a spin. All my cars are for driving, and I don't mind sharing with most folks. But we'll have to see how many people we have before we make specific plans...limited time, but some laps around the neighborhood are easy.
@Alvin: I was thinking Roadsters only for this run...but other vintage Datsuns, maybe?
@pletch: Datsun at the top, where else?
@Acote: Any way you can get there....
