All off now, no breakage. Turns out I need an extra gasket (Dean provided two only) because I have the engine bracket there. So I need two on the bottom.

I'll make one or does someone know of a match?

Meanwhile... brakes... more problems ahead. Going to be a long day. This is fun, right? :D
Rockauto has them cheap. The shipping is fast too!

ok, brakes turned into a real job, my mickey mouse first attempt wasn't good enough.

Rotors machined up nicely. New calipers:

cylinders look good, just a light honing will be fine:

got the tires mounted on the vintage Hayashi wheels.

Back on the street tomorrow? Maybe!

Header came out really nice. "Polished silver" ceramic coating. Coating cost $160 (plus shipping both ways, I was too lazy to take it down there).

a little too nice for the car, actually.

Hubba hubba.... Would look great with a polished manifold and some mikunis...

Who cares what the rest of the car looks like... it's under the hood that counts.

Nothing local for that job?

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

@ Linda: Yes, it can be done locally. But shipping wasn't horrible, either.

Rob was great, he's in Canada.
I did not design this, Darrell gets credit for that and for getting Rob to fab it up.

(see "4-2-1 header" thread)

If it works well on my car, maybe I'll see if he can make us three or four. Dunno yet.

ok so I read this trick on here of stuffing some foam under our old, broken-down old seats.

Here is the foam I used (had it around). THIS WORKS.

Definitely a "Why the heck didn't I think of that?!" moment.
