Linda wrote:Is that Centari single stage enamel? In CA it can no longer be used. You did mention lacquer, are you
perhaps using a lacquer paint for top coat?
I too am amazed at paint cost.

Linda
Yes
Centari I was told (by the paint store) is slowly being phased out here. I love that stuff.
I beleive Chromaone will be/is the replacement.

I will be using an "on hand" lacquer for the wheelwells and places that will not be seen, or undercoated.
It will probably take an hour and a half to spray with a single stage,,,,,but 253 hours to prep

IMHO 95 percent of the "dirt" comes from the car. So getting the car as clean as possible prior to spraying is key to a clean topcoat.

After months on jackstands, a couple of my motorhead pals coaxed me to toss a couple wheels on, I also wanted to check the "new" fender tire fit. I am stoked.

Just curious as to why you chose not to remove the hinges to paint? IS it because it is aligned now?

Yes. The passenger door fits well, no rust around the hinges. Tom, the driver door fit great until I swapped the lower hinge. I %^%$#@ with that door for two weeks to get it to fit right. This car had no paint under the hinges either. Actually what Im seeing is that each peice was primed after fab, car welded together, then assembled, leaded, then a coat of red primer, then a final color coat,,,and not much at that. So not painting under the hinges is factory stock! (In Andys case).

I like that Jeep look...no doors LOL
Those are the kind of pics by the way that are perfectly appropriate for a calender IMHO.

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

I did brush a little POR on the driver door,,door hinges, and A pillar.

Does not appear to have any paint under the B pillar striker either. The striker is painted red as well, both sides.

I should have the sills and pillars sandblasted and primed by the end of new years day.
Happy New Year EVERYONE.
