1969 owner SoCal

Post by Garm »

Hello,

I have a shop in Canoga Park. Been working on vintage micro cars for a while, but they aren't much fun for longer trips and/or freeway travel. ( I have two Subaru 360's)

I have two Triumph Spitfires (neither runs), but the Datsun Roadster just has this... Feeling... to it. You know?

So here is my first jump into the game here.
Runs and drives. Needs some brake work, paint and an overhaul to the interior. Some chroming and other bits.

I'm still looking at a lot of pictures -- I really like the variety of ways people set these up to give them uniqueness, while preserving the original aesthetic.,

You got bit! Now you have the addiction... welcome to the madness! As said, you will find huge support locally, and more importantly a great bunch of non-ego driven people who just love the cars no matter what they are looking like. Looks like you have got a solid place to start. I see from the pics that all the smog stuff is still on her, and you may want to consider removing it, which also includes getting the proper curve in the distributor. A good upgrade would be the electronic one that a few people offer here, as it will have the early car curve and timing settings. She will run much better.
In the meantime just keep digging through all the posts and pics, talk to some people and make your plans. You can go from stock to wild, but I think once you have driven her a bit you will never want to let it go. It's just got that kinda... feeling... ya know! Yes you do!
Welcome!

It may be a little tired but it looks pretty good. The black and yellow license plate is a bonus.

Thanks, this seems like a good home forum for the car and me.

I'll check out the Jan 1 run, maybe I can make it, maybe the car can make it, or even better, both of us.

One of the first things to do is pull the smog stuff, plug the ports, and get a recurve kit for the dizzy so you can time it like the early Roadsters that did not have smog stuff. Also getting rid of the stock fan if it is still on. Will run much better.
Dean at Datsunparts has all parts.
