Aftermarket valve cover, or...???

Post by ppeters914 »

One of Alvin's All Nissan Show pics is this:

http://community.webshots.com/photo/277 ... 4485UvnyyU

Is this a R16 motor because a) the water tower/spout is different, and b) the valve cover has only a single hole for oil/PCV exhaust. Both are very clean (heck, you can eat off that engine bay!).

Hey! Where's the battery?

Anyone know anything on these? Thanks.

Off-topic: After this past weekend, over 90-percent of the demolition for the kitchen remodel is done. Tired of breathing drywall dust! Door and windows expected to arrive this week, so hope to start framing new exterior wall this week.

Why mention the kitchen remodel? Because, once it's done, I get to a) plan the garage remodel/expansion, and b) work on the roadster. woo-HOO! :D

Duh.....guess I should have looked at all the pics first before posting. I just happened to zero in on the engine bay shot first.

IIRC, there's another thread regarding relocating the battery in a custom box in the behind-the-seats area similar to the SPL310 location (Sports Imports or Spriso Motorsports?).

Hmmmmmmm........

That is the second generation valve cover. The first was a chromed steel unit. The second is the first of the ribbed aluminum. The third has a spot at the end where the vent is to go. The fourth has the vent drilled and in place. There were also variations in the shape of the cover. Most of the unvented are "square top" like that one, while most of the vented had the back end clipped a bit to make engine removal easier.

Then there was the version that says NISSAN instead of DATSUN. That was used on the Sylvia.
