Just double checking before I order:

These have good reviews and they're in my price range.

That one is fine and will be good for quite a few years so you won't have to replace it.ACote wrote:Just double checking before I order:

Will came up last night...swapped the Z to race tires, gassed it up this morning. Setting up the track tonight and headed out dark and early tomorrow. Good times ahead!

Wow, what a day. Its not very often that you hear people complain of too much seat time. The last run group had next to no one running. The Datsun contingent was out, a pair of 2L roadsters, a 240Z and a 260Z. The new guys are now hooked. I hate to say it, but now its an expensive slippery slope that will be never ending (I fell down the same slope, I can no longer see the top, I'm a goner
)
Alex had a minor mechanical issue this morning, but got the car running and made it over to the track. He missed the course walk, and pretty much had to dive in head first. With a little instruction, he was a fast learner and was pushing his car as hard as it would go. He also learned what needs to be replaced, and what needs to be replaced soon. By the end of the day the car was still running, however he needs a set of axle oil seals for the rear end (the little wiper seals that sit near the bearings, but down in the housing.) At the end of the day his brake drums were dripping gear oil on both sides (bummer). Also he needs a set of comp front springs, a 23mm sway bar, and a set of bump stops (his are really dead.)
Dandridge, thanks for coming out and helping run the event. I hope you had fun.

The car feels more "worn" in now, afterwards it was shifting and turning a lot easier. It was more fun than a roller coaster, especially when I rode with Will. I could only ride twice, going through the course so fast in the pass seat made me queezy.pebbles wrote:Driving his car as hard as it would go,, way to go Alex!!!

I'm not sure why these pictures uploaded so dark. We will do another test and tune so get the car dialed in and have another go at it.

A good 5 point harness will help stabilize your upper body..reducing fatigue while maintaing control. May need to add a crossbar to the existing roll bar. Alot of these cars sit, so the more you drivem the better they get! And you will too.ACote wrote:The car feels more "worn" in now, afterwards it was shifting and turning a lot easier. Alex has 4 points in his car, and my car has a 5pt minus the sub belt on the passenger side. I've also got race seats in mine.pebbles wrote:A good 5 point harness will help stabilize your upper body..reducing fatigue while maintaing control. Alex's car needs a lot of work to bring up to the level where he can go and do this on a regular basis without breaking stuff. All the rubber in the suspension is dead, and he needs some negative camber in the font end like no other. It looked like he was going to chew the wheel up on the ground. The outside edge of the tires took a beating. He could also use a LSD for the rear end, but that is a pricey piece of kit, and other things need to be taken care of first.

I saw the racing LSD on craigslist last week, it was $1600 which I heard was an awesome deal for a new tested once part. but that's way down the line of the car, right before new paint. I really like the libre wheels. I might put those on my list.
