Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
Is a 1500 a 1965? or? I dont think a 7in wheel would look right, maybe a 6in with a +20 os? I havnt seen rotas in 6in. doesnt mean they arent out there.

Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
Does the fender chrome stretch to the headlight? I think a 6in would stick out too, even with a +24. Do you have drums and 13in wheels now? I dont think Ive seen an early car with alloys.
Maybe 14 x 5.5 with a +24.

Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
Michael, I had to replace the front studs...the Hub on the Rota's is very thick and I couldn't get the safe min of 9 turns on the original studs. I guess you could have a shop cut the hubs...as the front rims need to be trimmed anyway to clear, (but as others have said...each roadster at times is unique as far as items fitting one vs. another). The lug on the left is standard and you can see the Vendor stud on the right is much longer (plenty of bite)...even with the longer length the lug does not pass the front mounting surface of a Rota.

Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
The 65 1500 is an odd duck. The outer body is almost the same as the 3 seaters - except the trunk lid and the hood emblem. The interior is similar to the 65 - 67 1600, but with some subtle (and some not so subtle) differences. But with regards to wheel fitment, all 1500s should be the same.pebbles wrote:Is a 1500 a 1965? or?

A little bitter sweet.... while it looks like the center cap fits fine, the studs will need replacing and the rears look dangerously close to the rear wheel well. My next door neighbor tells me that his buddy will roll the edges of my well for super cheep.... anyone done that?

with a tire on it won't clear
rolling the lip will give you some extra room, but you will need to run a very thin tire
time for flares!
or have the shop "pull" them

Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
my neighbor said he had his car rolled and pulled. Something about heating up the lip with a torch.... im a bit scared about that! I guess if it looks as if its from the factory and uniform from side to side, it could be ok. I dont really want it to seem modified like flares might.

Hmm. Could shave .050 off the wheel hub, .050 off of the drum, and .050 off of the axle. Consider the inner fenderwell below the chrome strip. If you stick your fingers or a light in there you may see the undercoating is rubbed off. I've seen a baseball bat wedged in and rolled before but watch out that could take out a knee.

Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
I rolled my fenders - sort of-
The roller I have will not collapse enough to roll the edge at the top ( I am going to cut it down someday LOL), so I ran the roller above the lip which "pulled" the fender. You do need to heat the paint or it will crack. (don't ask me how I know).
Most people heat with a heat gun. I think I read 180°F.

Wow, that is really cutting it close, and one needs to consider what you will do if even when rolled they don't fit. At that point you would have already mounted tires, so I would assume you could not return/exchange the wheels anymore. Honestly, if it were me, I would deal with my disappointment and get a smaller rim. Patience and logic needs to win out here, over emotion. Bummer man... they look nice.

Re: Rota RB wheels --- Again?
like pebbles mentioned, if you are set on keeping the stock flares intact, you can get the wheel hub machined down(to a certain limit) to bring the wheel inboard, remove 5mm
make them fit!
make them fit!

Just helping the OP, doesn't mean I like them...but since you mentioned your car:jamesw wrote:Oh fine - you diss mine Alvin but you like these...
IMHO, Contrast is a good thing. Bright Silver wheels on a gleaming white car doesn't work for me. THe wheels get lost. Rota does offer gun metal/HB which are nice finishes, for example on Eric's white roadster with gun metal RS8s:

The OP's car is yellow, and HB will look great, again imho:
