Re: New to group
WOW! That is one SWEET engine compartment. How about some details on what you have done there!?
Those carbs are interesting, plus the aluminum radiator and electric fan, what else??!!
P.S. - how about some details, where are you located etc.?

I agree, nice engine, now how about some shots of the overall car? Those carbs look like the ones dbrick was looking at and mentioned in another post. http://www.v-performance.com/products/a ... kuni_carbs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. If they are the same carbs how about some info on how they perform? Welcome to the group and congrats on a beautifully done engine bay.

Re: New to group
Thank you for your kind comments. I live in Vancouver, WA and have been working on the car for around 3 years. I have around 300 miles on the frame off restoration of the car. The frame and suspension parts have been powder coated.
The engine modifications are quite extensive and I will dyno the car once I get a few more miles on it. The carburetors are Mikuni HSR45's that are performing much better than the modified SU's that I originally had on the car, especially above 4,500 RPM's . The other change that I had to make was replacing the stock rear end with a RX7 LSD unit, (thank you Michael Spreadbury) for inspiring me to take on the conversion. Prior to installing the car it was very difficult to drive on we pavement with the Fulken AZENIS that I have on the car.

Re: New to group
if you made pictures during your frame off restore, we would love to see them and a write up of all your work. that is a very nice engine bay and it looks like you did a great job on bringing that roadster back to better than new condition. welcome to the site.

Re: New to group
Dave,
I have been playing with the jetting for over a month and a half. Not that the Mikuni HSR's are hard to adjust I'm just being picky with how the car performs. I will get the car dyno'd in the month and the post the jetting and results.
You can purchase the kit from v-performance or purchase the parts individually as I did. Either way you will need to make some angled spacers to move the rear carb up off the steering shaft. I made a shaft to connect the two carbs, throttle cable holder, extensions for the carb throttle shafts, brackets to hold the choke cables and last some flexible servo connectors for the throttle shafts.
I have been very please with the Mikuni HSR. I had a pair of Solexs on a L18 510 a decade ago but was never able to get much bottom end out of the carburetor without choking them down so far the cut into the top end. Is there a place on the website for people to post dyno result with a list of modifications?
Cheers,
John
