h25 crank (stroking)

Post by steve68 »

i wanted to stroke my r16, how big can you bore a 5 main block and still be safe? The h25 is 500cc's bigger by stroke and bore. Possible to use h25 crank and pistons? or maybe just the crank?
h25 specs http://www.motorpowerinc.com/specs/h25.html
h20 specs http://www.motorpowerinc.com/specs/h20.html

what rods would be used? h25's? (if it can be bored that big)
if i just use the crank what rod/piston combo? h20 pistons? and u20 rods?
any ideas?

With the U20 you can go .060, I have heard of one car that went .080 but who knows if that will hold up. Mine is .060 oversized. The R16 should be the same.

well i still am.

the piston/rod pin is smaller on the h25 but i want to use h20 pistons or even the r16 (high compression)

but how can i make this work.

is 1000cc's that big of a diff
to adding 500cc's with the h20?

just trying to get the magic 300hp. That would be awsome.
if i did a sr20det swap i would still have to spend money to make that much hp.

might as well throw more money towards the stock engine.

o well im tired and just rambling

i would be turboing if i went that route. i would really like to do normally aspirated but that won't happen with out tons of work.
yes the ka is...but so is a big block.

its alot more fun to build a 10 sec small block with a full interior and all metal and glass. and on a 10.5in tire! :D normally aspirated.

well a supercharger would be cool i don't know how i would mount one

You would need a custom front pully, but you could drive it off the crank with 2 really small pully on the S.C. some brackets would have to be made for your accessories but it could be done. You will need to do an enormous amount of head work and I would use a set of TWM induction throttle bodies with a custom worked ECU (Got a dyno handy to get the fuel maps correct?) I'd say you need custom forged pistons, and a cast iron head (Won't warp as easily.) It would be cool, but will take lots of $$ to do it right.

Go for it,

I haven't heard of that company. For the throttle bodies.
The biggest then and feat would be getting efi on to the motor. Also very cool.

Whats there web site?, anyone use it before?

thanks

a r16 with a stock bore with a h25 crank will 135 ci. or 2200+cc motor...not to bad. i know some chrysler 2.2's that run very very well..ported head and a turbo running well over 200hp at the wheels thats 12's in the quater. and those daytonas are heavier...

just need some custom forged pistons made...im going to call ross monday to see about some stroker pistons for the h25 crank.

This could get very intresting!
now how about turbo'ing. has any one used webers to do so?
im going to look into

thanks

ok so far here is what i found.

the dodge 2.2/2.5 piston is 3.445 stock bore..

wrist pin size is .827 on the 2.0L (neon)rod length 5.473
and .9009 on the 2.2 5.945

(don't know the h25 or r16/h20 rod size)

any one seeing anything intresting?

now the h25 wrist pin size is ....8265 to .8267 very very close to the neon (it could be made to work)i think.

now about stroke h25 3.622

neon and 2.2 3.445

i passed up a set of racing neon pistons last year!!i should have taking them new in box!!!argh.

any input?

thanks
steve

ok u10 stroke 3.2667 rod size 5.67

looks pretty good and its really easy to get pistons for the neon
