Madison/Potosi Brewery WI fun run with the 2-seater club

Post by kenw »

If anybody out there is nearby, on Sunday July 10th the Dairyland Datsun's are joining forces with the Madison 2-Seater Club for a drive from the Madison area down to the Potosi Brewery in Potosi WI. FYI, Potosi is just a few miles from Dubuque, IA. We have a fun route from the Middleton area, through Mineral Point, to Potosi. The brewery is host to the National Brewery Museum and a ton of other local brewing history. Care to join us??
Leaving Middleton at 9:45 am. Mobil Station on University Ave, just west of the beltline.
Leaving Mineral Point at 11. BP station on Hwy 39

Hey Ken, you don't say when....but count me in if I'm free. Potosi's Snake Hollow IPA (my opinion) is the best beer in a bottle, though you must pour it out to fully appreciate it. I've long wanted to make the trip to the brewery and see the museum.

Oops, Edited and fixed. Thanks Bill.

Their beer is quite good. The food at the restaurant is very good too.

Not sure if I will post videos as they were taken with a hand held digital camera with no sound so you can't hear my wife saying "oh my god" on some of the corners that were, um, well, let's just say "more fun" and leave it G rated and not say F*****G AWESOME!!!!

Can't wait until the next one!!

Hey, we had 6 roadsters together in one place. In Wisconsin!! Seven if you count the 350Z, and we'll count it. That just doesn't happen in WI...
You gotta love it when the guy in the Audi TT tells you he prefers to follow the Datsuns because he loves to watch the way they corner. Every drive I've been on with this group at least one person comes up and asks what kind of engine the car has in it, and can't believe it is only a little 4 cylinder. A little Datsun respect.

Excellent demonstration of upper midwest Roadster strength! I was just at the Potosi Brewery two weeks ago coming back from a kayak trip along the upper IA river. Great museum and fun to watch folks 'backstep' when they notice the glass floor in the restaurant with the brewery's fresh spring running below!

Enjoy,

That was a good write up from a glowing Miata owner. Were there any 2000's?

Nope, no 2000s--mine is still inop  There were 6 1600s: (1 67, 3 68s, & 2 70s), there was an 280Z 2x2 as well as a 350Z. There were also an Audi TT rag top, two Z4 bimmers (I think they were both Z4s) some sort of newer vette (hate newer vettes), a very nice Fiat of about the same vintage as the Datsuns I believe) as well as several Miatas. I think we started with 16 cars all told but I was mainly around the Datsun folks so not 100% certain on all the other cars.

I have to add...Our route this day was chosen by Ken W (67 1600) from Janesville, WI. It was the best twisty road day I have had since getting my Roadster! Check out the road at the beginning of the run called "Ferndale Rd" that runs almost due south out of Mineral Point, WI: http://tinyurl.com/64ql3zr
The map does not do this road justice! You can see the twisty bits, but what you cannot see are all the elevation changes (we are in rolling foothills called Military Ridge), the blind rises, blind corners, the blind rises that have corners at the top of the rise, etc. It was also not uncommon to see unmarked corner! Over all a very challenging run! Best part? The Miatas behind Ken and I could not keep up! HA!! :smt005
