IF the old hose is trash, I usually cut the rubber hose, hold the brake line stationary and turn the hose off the line. Less chance of breaking the metal line if the nut is stuck to it.

My wiring for the cigarette lighter is MIA in my '68. The CL was trashed, so I replaced it. Did the original wiring run through the hole in the floor under the console and then outside the car on the bottom? Or did it just run along the inside of the tunnel to the fuse panel? Or did it go somewhere else?

Stupid question of the Day: Anyone have any tricks for installing the front postie on the door by the mirror? It is hard to reach in there to get one started.
Thanks

Hot glue the nut to a stick.

Don't use too much glue.

You can use masking tape also.

Or for a fresher breath alternative, use a piece of chewed gum ;) That worked for me... haha

On a 1967 1600, where does the cigarette lighter ground wire connect? There is a short black wire riveted to the outer housing of the cigarette lighter socket. This wire has a lug and insulation sleeve crimped on it. I do not see any sheet metal tabs in the immediate area, but there must be one as it is a very short wire.

Thanks,
Jack

I recently purchased the Side Moulding Clip Set from datsunparts and installed the side trim. The front fenders and door pieces fit fine. However, the studs were too short for the rear 1/4's. I could get a few of them started, but for the most part they were all too short. Is there a trick I am missing here?

Without further knowledge of your car, it could be as simple as too much filler (bondo/filler primer) making the panel too thick.

I'm not aware of a difference in the studs from the back ones to the front ones. Maybe one of the other guys can chime in.

I have this piece in my box of parts that came with my car. I have no idea where it goes, but I found this pic on Dean's parts website and it might go to the door somewhere?

Yes, they are used to hold down the original door weather seal on the inside of the car.

Ah, I see now. Reason I couldn't figure it out is that is the only piece of the weatherstrip scuff plates that I have. One more thing to add to the list.

Stupid question of the Day: Can I use stainless screws to secure the side trim (aftermarket) or will I have a problem with dissimilar metals? Trying to avoid rust....
