head cut to much?

Post by steve68 »

i blew a head gasket when i got the car. well the head was warped. they had to cut it .025. and it looked liek the head was already cut before then.
was this to much. my dad (who builds race engines) said that it should be fine as it only had 9to1 before

thanks

The minimum thickness for an R head is 3.246. You should measure it to see how thick it is now. Too thin of a head can cause you overheating problems. You do not really need a high compression motor for the street. There are a couple of options-a thicker copper head gasket or replace the piston's with the dished H20 pistons reducing the compression.

i don't have the head back yet so i can't measure it.
but that was my next goal was just to build a stroker.
i just need to get a place that will give me prices for the crank, rods, and pistons.

thanks

You can buy the stroker crank from NISMO. The part number is on the main web site. An H20 crank is too exspensive at over $500.00. Get some U20 connecting rods and then everything else including the pistons you can use H20 parts.
