Hey all!
I have my engine out of my '70 2000 and looks like I have the 2 nut main shafts on my 5 speed. Is there anything I need to worry about while this tranny is out and apart? It shifted fairly smooth, although I had the tiniest of problems with shifting into and out of #1-#2... It would occasionally grind, but not badly. Then again, I did have a flywheel with the heat stress cracks and a throwout bearings that was completely shot. Gotta love the P.O. eh? I'll finally have all those weird problems patched up though!!
Thanks in advance for all your great thoughts!

5 speed tranny question
Years ago (1982 I think) I broke what my mechanic called a "slack pin". I could only use 5th and reverse. I think the "pin" is item 41 or 42 in the tranny blow-up diagram on Gordon's site. At the time the pin was a couple of bucks. Cheap insurance. As long as the tranny is out, I would replace the bearings and syncros if:(1) you think they are original(2) you plan on keeping car (one less thing to go wrong)(3) The prices haven't gotten out of hand. I had mine done when I broke the pin and have not had tranny issues since (about 40,000 miles). Good Luck, Phil Herring SRL 07036
