New Glarus WI hill climb, twisties and Brewery tour

Post by kenw »

What more could you ask for, right??

If anybody is around southern Wisconsin, next Saturday is the NG hill climb. It is billed as an invitation only event, so you won't find much about it online except a few videos. Its too late to be invited, so you can't race the hill, but there should be some good car watching.

Saturday afternoon, anybody interested can join us in a quick hour and a half or so drive through the country on some fun twisty roads. After that, a tour of the New Glarus Brewery. Maybe even time for a sample or two. Uhh, I mean "field research".

We'll be meeting at the Swiss Chalet hotel's parking lot for the morning car corral and tech sessions. The hotel is on the west side of Hwy 69 coming into New Glarus.

GREAT Idea - I love the NG Bewery. Hard to beat an Uf Da Bock!
I almost wish I still lived in Madison - and that my car was a 100% ;-)

Their new brewery is very nice. Top of the hill overlooking the valley and New Glarus. Great place to hang out and watch the world go by.....slowly.

Unfortunately, this Saturday is the state level competition for Solo Ensemble so we cannot make it as it is my daughter’s last time competing since she is a senior. But, there is rain forecast so the hill climb might be a wash out. (It always rains, and hard, and all day, for the State Solo Ensemble. All four years it has done this to us  )

Yeah the forecast was pretty bad, but the day turned out windy and cloudy, but nice. Had the top down all day, and no rain. Saw some cool cars at the hill climb, and had 9 cars of various makes on our drive through the country. After all that fun, we had very comfortable weather for a cold one on the patio at the new New Glarus Brewery. All in all a wonderful spring drive.

And one with a Datsun. I was leading the charge through the country, with a nice mix of old and new behind me. The supercharged Miata was bringing up the rear, and is just out of the photo.

Thanks for sharing Ken! It's appropriate that the Datsun led the charge! (not hard when a cold one is the carrot in front of the horse!)

Great pics Ken! Thanks for sharing!! Outstanding that the rain never materialized where you were! (we did get rain in Plattville while attending State Solo/Ensemble)

Next year I am in for this run for sure!
