ok i was wondering what type of motor parts are adaptable into the either the 1600 or 2000?
i think i can get a small block chrysler rocker assembly to work in a r16..that would be nice..get a set of 1.6 or 1.7 ratio roller rockers!!!!
then that u20 has chevy connecting rods? anyone else seen that?
steve
adapting other car parts?

With some minor work, and about 1/8" of shims, a SBC "long nose" water pump pulley can be made to work on a 1600. Bill Wessel and I have done this on our race engines to slow down the water pump to reduce the possibility of cavitation at high rpm, and free up some hp.
ARP flywheel bolts for the BMC "A" Series engine are a high strength replacement for the SAE flywheel bolts on a 3-main 1600 engine. Pricey, but worth it on a engine working at +8000 rpm.
I'm curious to find out if the Datsun 1200 engine's lifters will work on a R16. Seems like I've run across info in the past that they will work. They are both pushrod motors. I've also heard that a Ford mushroom lifter will fit as well. Can't remember which one, though. "FE" possibly?
Be careful about your use of roller rockers. There are aluminum, roller-tippped rockers available for the R16 engine, but they are not recommended for high rpm race engines. They actually have a larger rotational moment of inertia than the stock lifter. Therefore, they will cause valve toss at a lower rpm than a stock lifter.
