I actually DO have a copy of the very real UBUNTU 10.10 which, from what was explained, is a derivation of Unix or Lynux (sp?) for laptops. It came on a laptop I bought my wife from craigslist, which I tried to use but it was beyond my level of patience.

So, LOL, if you really want an upgraded version of a very odd operating system, PM me your address and I'll send you a CD. There's no documentation, other than what comes on the CD, and that's not much help.

Besides, the belly button option... it hits you a few inches lower than it should and that hurts!

I'm sure Gerardo is reading this - and now he's probably going "man, these roadster guys are nucking futs!"

With that said, I'm willing to cut him slack too - up to a point. If my stuff arrives this week then I'll be a happy customer. He deserves a LOT of credit for the custom design and fab work that he's done.

Well, back on topic, Gerardo gave my wife a Red Hat at Solvang

OK, Only Enrique is laughing, maybe a few others. Sid is puzzled, but I thought it was funny. He really did give her a very nice Fairlady hat.

I ordered a couple items from him 2 years ago when I was doing my 67 resto and had a tough time getting a hold of him to see what was taking so long with shipping the parts. I had waited 3 weeks and only live a state away in Las Vegas. I had to call and leave 3 mess. over the next 2 weeks to finally get a call back. The parts were perfect and quite a bit cheaper than Dean's but the wait was inconvenient. I was a "friend" on facebook with him at the time and during the time I was trying to get him to call back I saw posts from him at baseball games ect... so he wasn't THAT busy. I want to order my stayfast top and boot from him, since they are significantly lower in price than Dean's, but I want to get it to the upholstery shop to have them installed before Solvang! It looks like I will pay the higher price knowing that Dean will get them to me in less than a week.

I just received a UPS ship notification for the frame bolt set. So, it looks like we're back on track. My original post stirred far more attention than I ever expected. I guess that goes to show that "one oops" can wipe away a bunch of "at a boys". I do want to keep them as a viable suppler since they have some unique stuff. So for me, I'll continue to support them and practice the 2 strikes rule. I sincerely hope everybody else gets their issues resolved, so we can all put this post to bed, and move on with the real important stuff, like fixing up these very cool little cars.

Steve:
Your approach is admirable, but as far as this attracting more attention than expected, I disagree. This discussion is good and needed. It is a good thing to air these issues, if we DO want to keep them as a vendor, other members need to know what they may deal with, and that there can be a good resolution. If I didn't see the issues being resolved, I would NEVER buy from them - thus they would probably fade away as others reacted as well. I know now that I am likely to face a delayed shipping issue with them, and to either plam accordingly or buy from another vendor. Any vendor wanting to stay in good graces will hopefully read these type of customer concerns and react to keep his core customers happy. Afterall, they most likely need us as much as we need them!

You can look at from this point of view. How many roadsters were sold in total? 60,000 or so? How many are left? Probably not anywhere near half.

Now you have a handful of people trying to sell us parts and how many actually make a living of it? A few are trying to make new parts for us. Most have real jobs to go with that.

Nissan keeps cutting us off. I try to buy from all the vendors including Nissan (yes Ebay too). Then again you have someone like me who drove the one roadster for 7 years and did almost nothing to it. Of course I have been stashing parts the whole time for the other car.

Most parts we buy will last for years or decades. The consumables don't run up that much cost. Once they sell us something we're done with it and don't need another.

So who is nucking futs? I'd say the vendors for taking on such a small market. And thinking it will pay off.

I think this served it's purpose if the stuff gets sent with no bad feelings on either side. BTW, his feedback on Ebay looks very good, so he seems to be keeping that end on track. I agree, having a variety of sources is a good thing. When I was selling distributors, I thought it was a good thing to have Stan selling them also, it gives people a choice.

Edited, When I mentioned Ebay feedback I was looking at the wrong ebay account, his last feedback is not so good.
