I was told that the copper V shaped pin fits into the groove in the bearing inside the pump to hold it in place. But if there is no groove in the bearing then it is not needed. So I have to check. :|

:smt017 never heard of that one before. The bearing should be pressed on to the shaft. im sorry Iv only repaced 30-40 water pumps on differant engines...just never knew there was such a thing.
